In the US, the Copyright Office registers only work with real human authorship, and prompts alone usually don't count. The Supreme Court declined to hear Thaler v. Perlmutter on Mar 2, 2026, which leaves that rule in place. Training-data cases are still open: Getty mostly lost its UK case against Stability AI in Nov 2025 and can appeal, and Disney and Universal are suing Midjourney in the US. Before you sell AI-assisted work, read each tool's license terms. Some models, such as Adobe Firefly, Bria and Getty's generator, are trained only on licensed images and offer indemnity.
