Feature Dev
Feature Dev is an Anthropic plugin for Claude Code that walks you through building a feature in 7 phases instead of jumping straight into code. It explores the codebase with helper agents, asks clarifying questions, proposes architecture options, waits for your approval before writing code, then reviews the result.
The /feature-dev workflow (7 phases)
- Discovery: clarifies the request, the problem and constraints, and confirms its understanding with you.
- Codebase exploration: runs 2 to 3
code-exploreragents in parallel to trace similar features and map the architecture. - Clarifying questions: lists edge cases, error handling and integration questions and waits for your answers.
- Architecture design: 2 to 3
code-architectagents propose options (minimal change, clean architecture, pragmatic balance). - Implementation: starts only after your explicit approval and follows the conventions it found.
- Quality review: 3
code-revieweragents check simplicity, bugs and conventions; you choose fix now, fix later or proceed. - Summary: wraps up what was built.
- Requirements from the README: Claude Code installed, a Git repository, and an existing codebase for it to learn from.
- Run
/feature-dev, optionally followed by a feature description. - For exact install steps for your version, see the original listing.
- The three agents are limited to read and search tools: Glob, Grep, LS, Read, NotebookRead, WebFetch, WebSearch, TodoWrite, KillShell and BashOutput.
- Code changes happen in the main session, after you approve the plan.
- Nothing else about access is stated on the listing.
- Publisher: Anthropic (author field in plugin.json).
- Repository: anthropics/claude-plugins-official, folder plugins/feature-dev.
- License: Apache-2.0 (the plugin's LICENSE file).
